RInfra seeks Haryana govt help to tackle issues at toll plaza

Reliance Infrastructure, which operates the Delhi-Agra section of NH-2, has sought help from Haryana government following several incidents of vandalism and ransacking that has put employees' lives "under threat".
In a letter to the Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, DA Toll Road Pvt Ltd, a special purpose vehicle of Reliance Infrastructure, said: "Right from the inception in October 2012, a large section of commercial vehicle owners backed by local miscreants have indulged in making unauthorised entry and exit from the project highway without paying any toll."
There has been a rise in a number of manhandling cases of the toll staff, threat to their life and damages to toll plaza assets in addition to prevention from collecting toll, the company added.

"It is a fact that few local influential persons who do not want to pay the toll fee for the fleet of their commercial vehicles instigate other people to agitate and continue to create unrest at toll plaza areas," the company said in the letter.
It also mentioned about the frequent incidents of vandalism, robbery and ransacking at the Toll Plaza due to which the company has suffered financial losses apart from physical loss of assets.
The company added, "We feel that such incidents in which are employees are victimized and their lives are under threat pose a very daunting challenge which can't be resolved without support from the entire state machinery.
