Rishika, Snehadevi sail into round two

Second seed Rishika Sunkara, fourth seed Bhuvana Kalva and sixth seed Snehadeviv Reddy enjoyed a relatively easy passage into the second round of the USD 10,000 NIWEK ITF women's tennis championships here.
On the first day of the main draw matches, Indian Fed Cup team member Rishika ousted Akshara Iska 6-3 6-4, while Bhuvana outplayed Nandini Sharma 6-3 6-3 in two all-India matches.
Snehadevi gave away just one game to get past Arthi Muniyan 6-1 6-0 while emerging junior Karman Kaur Thandi and Sharon Sanchana Paul blanked Indian compatriots Preethi Ujjini and wild card Komal Nagare with identical 6-0 6-0 scoreline.
In the closest match of the day that lasted nearly two hours, Sai Samhitha Chamarthi edged out Vanshika Sawhney 7-5 1-6 6-3.
Taipei's Ching-Wen Hsu has been given the top billing in the tournament.
Maharashtra's emerging player, 16-year-old Mihika Yadav, has been awarded the wild card along with local girl Komal, Isha Budhwal and Zeel Desai.
