An Opposition RJD member today burnt a copy of the State Excise Act in the Assembly premises, demanding ban on liquor sale in the state.
RJD MLA Bhai Dinesh burnt a copy of the Bihar Excise Act in the lawn in front of the main gate demanding ban on liquor sale in the state which he said is killing a large number of people and ruining families.
The MLA told reporters that due to liberal excise policy of the Nitish Kumar government, the killer liquid has entered into houses of poor, killing people and ruining many families.
Asked why he chose Assembly premises for the protest, he said since Assembly makes law there is a need to open the eyes of policy makers against evil impact of rampant liquor consumption.
When chief marshall B P Sinha was asked how come the MLA was allowed to carry match box inside the premises and his burning the Act, he said the act was done outside the Assembly building.
