The incident took place at the residence of Manoj Tayyal in east Delhi's Farsh Bazaar and the 14-year-old boy who was shot at was indentified as Priyanshu. Priyanshu's elder brother Shan was beaten up by the robbers.
According to police, two men came to the house enquiring whether Tayyal, a factory owner, was at home. They barged into the house and held the family, Tayyal's wife and his three sons, hostage. Tayyal was not present in the house.
When Priyanshu shouted for help, the robbers shot at him. He sustained a bullet injury on his head.
The robbers also beat up his brother before they fled from the house, a senior police official said adding Tayyal's wife informed police soon after.
