The light-hearted show, which airs on Sab TV, is inspired by a quaint little picturesque railway station in a small town of Shimla, Peterson Hill, and revolves around the lives of its simple people and the family of the station master, who manages that place.
Rohit, 46, who plays the friendly station master, said he was bowled over by the story when he heard the narration.
"I was not getting anything interesting on fictional shows, so I shifted towrds films and reality series. When I heard the narration for the role, I was completely bowled over by the script and my character. It's the role of a common man and I have never done such a character," Rohit told PTI.
"I didn't do any special preparation to play the role. I only followed the instructions of my producer Ashwini Dheer. A month prior shooting the show, I ate a lot of pizza and had soft drinks to add some extra kgs of weight," he said.
The actor, who was last seen in a romantic role on the show 'Viraasat' in 2007, said he played his new character Kishore Chadda with his heart.
"I played a gangster, angry man and a romantic in my various projects but I never played such a touching character. His antics are funny but he is a genuine human being. I did the role with my heart," he said.
