Khattar's direction came on the basis of a report of the State Vigilance Bureau, Urban Local Bodies Minister Kavita Jain said here today in an official release.
She said the chief minister had directed the bureau to conduct an investigation into the matter following a complaint.
"During the probe, the bureau found irregularities in the purchase of furniture and found Mayor Renu Dabla, Senior Deputy Mayor Manju, Deputy Mayor Ashok Kumar, municipal engineer Jagdish Chandra and accounts officer Vikas Kumar to be involved in the matter," she said.
Acting on the report, Khattar ordered the divisional commissioner, Rohtak, to initiate action against the mayor, senior deputy mayor and deputy mayor for wrong conduct.
He also directed director of the Urban Local Bodies Department and the director of the Treasury and Accounts Department to initiate action against the municipal engineer and the accounts officer, respectively.
She said the state government would not spare any public representative, officer or any other employee found guilty of wrong conduct or who caused loss of revenue to the state exchequer.
