The jeep was intercepted by unidentified men who were in a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) at Bhilad Chowkri (circle), Valsad Superintendent of Police Sunil Joshi said.
"Five or six miscreants stepped out of the vehicle and took away a box containing over Rs 1 crore after threatening three officials inside the jeep with a gun," he said.
Police have launched a search operation and the crossing points along the border with Maharashtra and Daman town of the Union Territory of Daman and Diu have been sealed, he said.
"The cash had been taken out by breaking the locked metal box. The empty box was left in the jeep," Mori said.
