Rs 133 cr worth freebies given in Namakkal dist: Minister

More than Rs 133 crore worth free of cost mixers, grinders and fans have been distributed to 3.45 lakh families in the district so far since the present AIADMK government came to power in 2011, Industries Minister K Thangamani today said.
Speaking after distributing the appliances to beneficiaries of Santhamangalam and Tiruchengode assembly constituencies under a welfare scheme, implemented to fulfil the AIADMK's poll promise, he also said 13,500 women had been given a total of 55 kg of gold worth Rs 58 crore under the free 'thali' initiative.
