Four miscreants entered Allahabad Bank's Chakradharpur branch and looted the cash after holding the bank employees at gunpoint, said Sub-divisional Police Officer (Chakradharpur), Aman Kumar.
The miscreants also took the digital video recorder of the bank's CCTv before they decamped with the booty, he said.
It appeared that the miscreants were from bordering Seraikela-Kharswan district, he said.
They had arrived at the bank in motorcycles.
A police team rushed to the spot and launched a search operation to track the culprits.
