The assailants came in a car at around 3:30 am at the fuel pump located in Budhlada here. Five to six assailants held the pump staff captive and decamped with a safe containing Rs 24 lakh in cash, police said.
Robbers kept the safe, which was around 200 kg in weight, in the car and fled from the scene, police said.
Assailants cut off the electricity supply of the pump and used torches to loot cash, police said.
Petrol pump owner had kept the collections of four days in the safe as the cash could not be deposited in the bank because of holidays, police said.
Several teams have been formed to track down the robbers.
"An FIR has been lodged and investigations are underway," Mansa SSP Parambir Singh Parmar said.
