A sum of Rs 44.78 crore has been collected by the special teams constituted for the recovery of pending electricity bills in operation circle Ambala, Yamuna Nagar, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Kaithal, Panipat, Sonepat, Rohtak and Jhajjar, a spokesman of the Nigam said here today.
Over Rs 28 crore has been recovered from consumers in urban areas and over Rs 16 crore from consumers in rural areas, he said.
The directors and chief engineers of the Nigam have been appointed as nodal officers for each circle for the monitoring of the recovery process, he said.
