Tribunal Presiding officer Naveen Arora awarded compensation of Rs 45,88,400 to the wife and two children of 47-year-old Manmohan Vaid, who was was hit by a car from behind in Chennai where he had gone for business related work.
"As per the witness, the vehicle had hit him from behind which itself amounts to negligence per se," Tribunal said rejecting the respondents plea that they were falsely implicated in the present case.
"Insuchashortspanoftimethechancesof manipulation of thenumberoftheoffendingvehiclecanbeeasilyruled out," the Tribunal added.
According to the petitioner, on July 23, 2011, Vaid, while returning to his room in Chennai, was hit by the car from behind and was admitted to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The respondents denied the allegation and pleaded that they were falsely implicated in the case.
