Rs 476 crore has been sanctioned for all-round development of Amethi district under the Uttar Pradesh government's ambitious Zila Yojna programme, state minister Kamal Akhtar said here.
According to the Panchayati Raj Minister, who is also the district in-charge of Amethi, the sanctioned money of Rs 476 crore will be used for various development projects.
Amethi is the Lok Sabha constituency of Rahul Gandhi.
Akhtar said at an event here yesterday that he has directed the authorities to complete the projects within a fixed time frame.
He said he has asked the officials concerned to ensure that quality is not compromised and that strict actions will be taken if lapses were found.
The projects include construction of roads and bridges, health and family welfare programmes and schemes for providing portable water in rural and urban areas, a statement issued by the district authorities said today.
Rs 62 crore has been alloted for the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGA).
He said that he has instructed the officials including the District Magistrate, the Chief Development Officer and Superintendent of Police to take complaints and suggestions given by the public representatives seriously.
Several Samajwadi Party leaders, including the Chairperson of Zila Panchayat Shiv Kali Maurya, MLAs Rakesh Pratap Singh, Radhe Shyam and MLC Shalendra Pratap Singh, were present at the event.
