District Magistrate Mukesh Bansal took action against the Mehta petrol pump at Station Chowk in the city, which is an outlet of Bharat Petroleum Ltd, for 'short delivery'.
The officials of District Administration and Food Department had conducted raid on August 18, 2012 after getting complaints about the pump. The inspection revealed that the petrol dispensing machine delivered 40 ML fuel less per every one litre. There were other irregularities too.
After hearing the pump owner, District Magistrate directed to close down pump on Feb 14 and 15, and imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh on M/S S N Gupta, the dealer.
