An amount of Rs 68.50 lakh was seized from a car and four of its occupants were detained as they could not account for the money during a vehicle checking drive in Muzaffarpur district, the police said Friday.
Senior Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar said that a police team led by city SP Rakesh Kumar carried out a vehicle checking drive at Mehndi Hasan chowk and intercepted the car Thursday.
The team recovered a bag containing Rs 68.50 lakh from the vehicle and seized the money as the occupants could not state its origin as well as the end use, he said. All the four occupants were detained.
