The incident took place at around 2:15 PM when the cash collection van reached a government wine shop situated in Damodar Park area between Mansarovar Park metro station and Jhilmil metro station on the G T Road.
"As one of the custodians of the van Paramveer went to the wine shop to collect cash, four men arrived on the spot on two bikes were wearing helmets. One of the robbers pointed a gun at the van's guard Sukhbir while another at custodian Mahesh Chand and driver Ranjeet. They then took away the keys of the van and fled with the cash trunk which approximately had Rs 90 lakh," said a police official.
The van of CMS cash collection company collects cash from various shops, petrol pumps, private companies and deposit it in bank.
A statement issued by CMS company said "one of our cash vans in Delhi was robbed in an armed attack, resulting in a loss of 88 lakh".
Ranjeet, who had joined the firm around four months ago and the guard, Sukhbir, who joined around 11 months back, are under the scanner in the case, said police sources.
Police are questioning all four of them and verifying their claims from the company officials and local CCTV footage, police said.
A case under the IPC has been registered and efforts launched to nab the robbers. Several teams are looking into the matter, police said.
