RSS today strongly condemned the attack on former BJP state president V Maraleedharan in Thiruvananthapuram by alleged CPI(M) goons and said by doing so it is trying to spread politics of violence to different parts of poll-bound Kerala.
"I severely condemn the heinous act of murderous attack on Shri V Muraleedharan and 26 BJP workers in Thiruvananthapuram by CPI(M) goons on Monday.
"It is clear that CPI(M) is trying to spread the politics of violence to the different parts of Kerala. This is highly deplorable. I call upon all citizens who have faith in democracy and peace to come forward in unison to condemn this dastardly attack and fight out the red terror in the state," RSS joint general secretary Dattareya Hosabale said.
RSS spokesperson Manmohan Vaidya also said, "I strongly condemn the attack by CPI(M) workers on a peaceful protest march by BJP supporters in Kerala."
Kerala's former state BJP President V Muraleedharan was among 16 persons injured in a clash between workers of the party and CPI(M) at nearby Kattayikonam on Monday.
A procession of BJP activists on certain local issues resulted in the clash with CPI(M) workers, police had said.
The clash occurred after stones were allegedly pelted at the processionists, they said, adding most of the injured were BJP workers.
Demanding the arrest of the accused, BJP observed a hartal in the district today protesting the attack on its workers by CPI(M).
As the political heat over the May 16 elections is slowly rising, reports of rival party workers clashing in various parts of the state, especially northern Kannur district, are on the rise.
An RSS worker was recently hacked to death in Pappinesseri and a BJP worker escaped with serious injuries in Panur, both in Kannur district after they were attacked allegedly by CPI(M) workers.
