The firefighters and two civil defence personnel were injured during operations to douse the fire, they said, adding a rubber factory was gutted in the blaze.
"No casualties were reported in the incident as people working in the industrial area had left for the day. It seems, the fire broke out after a short circuit in the rubber factory," Deputy Superintendent of Police Rupesh Lumar said.
Several fire tenders were pressed into service and till evening efforts were on to douse the fire.
The actual cause of the fire and financial losses are yet to be ascertained, the officer said.
