Taking the losses further for the second day against the dollar, the rupee dropped by another 14 paise to close at 67.02 on continued demand for the American unit coupled with its growing strength overseas.
However, solid foreign capital inflows into the equity market restricted the rupee's losses, a forex dealer said.
The rupee resumed lower at 66.90 as against last Friday's closing level of 66.88. It declined further to 67.03 before ending at 67.02, a loss of 14 paise, or 0.21 per cent.
The rupee has dropped 17 paise, or 0.25 per cent, in two days. The domestic unit hovered in a range of 67.03 and 66.90 in late morning deals.
The dollar index was trading down by 0.22 per cent against a basket of six currencies in the late afternoon trade.
Overseas, the British pound stood out as an outlier today. The dollar got a lift after a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Japanese premier went off without any hitch.
