Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today said SAD-BJP alliance was ever prepared to face the polls, with the Assembly election in the state slated to be held in 2017.
Speaking on the sidelines of 'Sangat Darshan' programme in Lambi Assembly segment here, the CM said political parties were always ready for elections and Shiromani Akali Dal was not an exception.
We are ever ready to face the elections, he said.
On Congress spokesperson Sukhpal Singh Khaira's joining the Aam Aadmi Party, Badal said it hardly made any difference.
Whether he joins AAP or remains in Congress he would have contested the election on either of their ticket, he said adding SAD-BJP candidate from Bholath would remain the same.
He dismissed as baseless and irrational, the Congress party accusation yesterday that the SAD-BJP government "violated democratic set up" by deciding to confer developmental powers of local bodies on bureaucrats.
The Opposition was criticising the Punjab government for the sake of criticism, he said. There was hardly any ground for these allegations.
Commenting on the Abohar incident, Badal said the state government was committed to deal firmly with any incident involving law and order.
In the Abohar incident also the government is taking every step to deliver justice to the victims, he said adding almost all accused involved in the heinous crime have been nabbed.
"Our government has always acted swiftly to deal with such cases and nobody will be allowed to take the law into their hands," he added.
