Terming the stance of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Congress on the issue of SYL as "political drama", AAP MP Bhagwant Mann today claimed the land was being grabbed from its original owners by encroachers in the garb of filling up the canal.
"Both Congress and SAD are indulging in a credit-war and are fooling the public as the original owners of the land, which is claimed to have been de-notified by state assembly, are still confused whether they will get it back or it will be grabbed by mafia," Mann said in a statement here.
People of Punjab are smart enough to understand the "drama" of such politicians and will give them a befitting reply during polls, Mann said.
"People are confused from where the JCB machines are coming and who are illegally encroaching the land under political patronage," he said.
Mann said Punjab Government should clarify if the de-notified land has already been transferred to its real owners and find out whether the people filling up the canal are the original owners or mafia.
"Instead of playing with the emotions of People, till the Bill for de-notifying the SYL land is signed by Governor, Revenue Department should finalise the list of real owners of the de-notified land so that it can be handed over to them without any delay," he said.
Mann also reaffirmed AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal's stand against the construction of the SYL canal as Punjab has no water to spare for other states.
