Hosts Royal Bombay Yacht Club and the Bombay Sailing Association are to jointly organise a Super Yacht Harbour race on Saturday after which there would be a race from here to the Mandva Jetty, a distance of 7 nautical miles, it was announced at a media conference today.
The following day the competitors would sail back from Mandva to the Mumbai harbour and the winners across all three races would be awarded trophies.
The participants in the Optimist/Topper classes for children will include a bunch of sailors from the economically weak section of the society from Akansha Foundation who have been trained by the West Coast Marine Sailing School here.
A total of 225 sailors and over 50 boats, including Sea Bird, Lightning and Optimist classes, will be taking part.
