Divisional Commissioner of Jaipur has directed collectors of Sikar and Jhunjhunu districts to prohibit sale of such havelis in the Shekhawati region and any construction or repair which may harm the heritage look of havelis.
Divisional Commissioner Hanuman Singh Bhati said he has been informed about alleged illegal sale and purchase of historic havelis in the Shekhawati region, comprising those districts, by an organisation, following which he has directed the district collectors to make sure that no such activity takes place any further.
Areas like Fatehpur, Navalgarh, Mandava, Alsisar, Dundlod, Mukandgarh, Ramgarh have several such havelis which are frequented by tourists for their aesthetic charm.
He said the state government has already taken decision for conservation of such structures for the development of tourism.
