Odisha government has said that sale and use of physical stamp papers will continue even as e-stamping system for payment of stamp duty is being implemented in the state.
The government's decision in this regard came after it received complaints that a large number of vendors engaged in the process would be unemployed if only e-stamping system remained in force.
The revenue and disaster management department in a statement said the proposed e-stamping system is an additional revenue evidencing mechanism that aims at easy payment of stamp duty by the registrant public through electronic mode.
Stating that the e-stamping system is a part of Ease of doing Business (EoDB) in the state, the department said that the Stock Holding corporation of India Limited(SHCIL) has been appointed as the Central Record Keeping Agency (CRA) for issuance of e-stamp certificate in the State.
