Salman, 49, took to Twitter and thanked the audience for welcoming newcomers Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty, who star in the Nikhil Advani-directed romantic action movie.
"Thanks to the people who have gone to see Hero and welcomed Suraj and Athiya in the film world and all those who are going to see it. Lots of respect."
"Hero" minted Rs 6.85 cr in its first day, and the "Dabangg" star said he was happy with the performance of the lead and the film.
"Collections superb , whole team of 'Hero' super happy with them. Would not have been possible without you going to see it. Thank you."
