Over the past fortnight, more and more men and women have been going to salons for a makeover and a variety of cosmetic and other treatments, resulting in a rise of about 25-40 per cent in footfall, revealed a just-concluded quick survey of ASSOCHAM, under the aegis of its Social Development Foundation.
Men and women both seem to be going quite far to look good and are shelling out anything between Rs 2,000 and Rs 10,000 and even more to ensure they look picture-perfect, according to the survey.
It further highlighted that men are almost on a par with women when it comes to the amount of money and time they spend on looking good.
"In a bid to emulate famous film and other personalities, youths end up spending a major chunk of their income for latest grooming as per the fashion trends," ASSOCHAM National Secretary General D S Rawat said.
During the survery, 100 working people in the age group of 25-30 years (equal number of both men and women) with minimum pay package of over Rs 20,000 per month and about 30 unisex beauty salons in Lucknow were surveyed to gauge grooming trends amid men and women this Valentine's Day, he said.
