"I am surprised how this news item has come up in the media...It is very surprising and it calls for the government to find out the source," Sangma told reporters at the sideline of a government event here.
"I have not had the opportunity to look at whatever has appeared in the newspaper, but it is something which has drawn the attention of the government. I have spoken to the chief secretary to find out how it has happened," he said.
The local media published a news item about a CBI report on the alleged involvement of some of Sangma's Cabinet colleagues in selection of assistant teachers in government lower primary schools two years ago.
The chief minister refused to comment on the subject saying the matter was "sub-judice".
Meanwhile, Hill State People's Democratic Party, partner of the Congress-led coalition government, today demanded strong action against public representatives involved directly or indirectly in appointing the "incapable" teachers.
Seeking clarification from the government, HSPDP spokesperson G Nonglong said, "these findings by CBI confirmed that the ruling Congress, UDP, NCP are all hand-in-glove in the matter for their selfish ends."
