Three days after serial blasts rocked the Gandhi Maidan here claiming six lives during Narendra Modi's rally, Patna Police was still engaged in sanitizing the sprawling ground of bombs and related explosive material, police said today.
The Patna Police had recovered five bombs yesterday from the ground which were defused by the NSG bomb disposal squad.
The sanitization drive was underway for the third successive day today to clear the Gandhi Maidan of bombs and explosive material, Superintendent of Police (SP), City, Jayant Kant told PTI.
As of now, no more bombs or suspicious objects have been found from the Gandhi Maidan, he said.
A CRPF team has also inspected the Gandhi Maidan and collected data related to the serial blasts, the SP said.
Meanwhile, tight security arrangements have been made at the Veer Chand Patel Path and the Miller High School ground, the venue of the CPI(M-L) Liberation's 'Khabardar Rally' today, police said.
Metal detectors were being used at the rally venue and the participants were being frisked and their belongings thoroughly searched by the policemen deployed in large numbers, the sources said.
The district administration had yesterday denied permission to the CPI(M-L) Liberation leaders to hold the rally at the Gandhi Maidan in view of security concerns and asked the party to shift the venue to the Miller High School grounds.
The CPI(M-L) Liberation had later agreed to go ahead with its 'Khabardar Rally' at the Veer Chand Patel Path where a dias was erected overnight for the top leaders to assemble and address the crowd.
Serial blasts had rocked the BJP's 'Hunkar Rally' addressed among others by its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi at the Gandhi Maidan on October 27.
Six persons were killed and 82 others injured in the serial blasts at the Gandhi Maidan and surrounding areas.
