"The reference to the borderless bird 'Sankhochil has come up in Jibabandana's poem several times. If it is a seamless border for the birds, why can't it be the same for humans. I have taken as reference point the title of Dhansiri poet in my film," the 'Paar' director told PTI on the outdoor location in Taki, along Bangladesh border, today.
Invoking the imageries of John Lenon's ageless 'Imagine' number, Ghosh said, "If the shops, localities, people on both sides look the same, why do you need passport to visit each other's home? The birds, having wings, don't face any barrier."
"Years later, when I first visited our Faridpur house in present day Bangladesh, durig shoot of 'Padma Nadir Majhi' I remembered my parents. Located near a treasury buliding, it is now eyed by local builders."
Sankhochil, jointly produced by Prosenjit Chatterjee's 'nIdeas Creations' and 'Ashirbad Chalochitra' in Bangladesh, also features Ray's Aranyer Din Ratri actor Dipankar Dey and Bangladeshi actor Kusum.
