In an interview with The Edit, Paulson, 42, said people told her that coming out as gay would have an adverse affect on her career.
"Early on, when people found out I was with Holland, some said: 'I think you have to be careful, I'm afraid it's going to affect your career negatively.' I was like what? It never occurred to me at all," Paulson said.
Paulson, however, decided to mention Taylor during her Emmy win speech and say "I love you" in front of her Hollywood peers.
The actor said her love life is "the least interesting thing about me" but people find her relationship with the 74- year-old actor "fascinating and odd.
