A lower court here today rejected the petition of Satyam Roul, the adopted son of fake godman Santosh Roul, in which the 20-year-old had prayed to be allowed to stay in the same cell with his father in the Choudwar jail.
Both father and son were now in judicial custody after they were arrested separately by the crime branch last month.
The SDJM court of Bibaswat Gautam rejected the plea of Satyam stating that lodging under-trial prisoners in different cells or wards was the prerogative of the jail authorities in accordance to jail securities and other ancillaries.
Satyam had pleaded that he was feeling lonely and frightened staying in a solitary cell.
Upon rejection of the plea, his counsel Manas Chand said they would move the higher forum challenging the SDJM verdict.
Both father and son would be produced before the magistrate again on September 11 through video conferencing from jail as was done on September 2 last.
On the other hand, Santosh Roul on the day moved another petition before the SDJM court pleading his production in the court in connection with the case registered by the crime branch pertaining to allegations made against him by a woman medical student of SCB Medical College and Hospital.
The final year medico, who had allegedly accompanied Santosh on a Hyderabad trip in July this year and stayed in a hotel room for three days, had brought extortion and criminal intimidation allegations against the godman.
