The condition of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, who was hospitalised on December 24, continued to be "critical but stable" with doctors trying to contain the chest infection.
79-year-old Sayeed, who was airlifted from Srinagar on December 24 and admitted to AIIMS, continued to be in the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital.
In a statement today, AIIMS said there was no change in his health condition from yesterday.
AIIMS had said that the Jammu and Kashmir chief minister continues to remain under treatment and requires respiratory support.
"... In view of his (Mufti Mohd Sayeed) lung conditions, he requires respiratory support," the statement had said.
"His condition continues to be warranting close monitoring by the team of experts at AIIMS," it said.
However, hospital sources said Sayeed continued to be on a 'mechanical ventilator', a drill that is followed in the ICU.
Sayeed, who took over as Chief Minister of PDP-BJP coalition on March one last year, was admitted after he had complained of exhaustion due to fever and neck pain and during the course of his medical investigation, the AIIMS doctors diagnosed him of having "decreased blood counts, pneumonia and sepsis".
They said Sayeed continued to be administered blood transfusion since Friday night after platelets had fallen.
