Vedanta Group firm Sesa Sterlite today said the Supreme Court order relating to auctioning of iron ore is in no way connected to it.
"It is being clarified that today's developments in Supreme Court does not relate to Sesa Sterlite.... As per our understanding, the situation, which is prevailing since April 21, 2014 judgement of the Supreme Court, remains the same even today," the company said.
The apex Court in its order today said Goa government cannot be restrained from auctioning iron ore extracted by private companies, which remained unremoved after the expiration of stipulated six months.
The top court, which relied on its judgement passed earlier this year, declined the plea of a company -- Bandekar Brothers Private Limited -- seeking to restrain concerned authorities for e-auctioning the mined mineral ore produced by it prior to November 22, 2007.
A special bench headed by Justice J S Khehar said that based on the directions issued by the apex court in the Goa Foundation's case this year and also considering provisions of the Mineral Rules, "it is not possible for us to accept the prayers made by the the applicant."
"We are of the firm view, that this Court clearly and categorically directed the preparation of an inventory of all the existing extracted mineral ore available as on November 11, 2013.
