"We will hear it on next Monday," a bench headed by Justice A K Patnaik said when senior advocate Harish Salve mentioned the issue and urged the apex court to take it up.
"Delhi has become the most polluted city in the world and nobody is doing anything. The city is done," Salve said, adding the earlier conceived project of having a bypass corridor around the national capital is stuck up.
"No, nothing is done. This court should do something," Salve said, adding he will be filing related details and reports.
According to Yale University Environmental Performance Index Report, Delhi has now overtaken Beijing as the most polluted city in the world.
A comparative study of 178 countries on nine environmental parameters released earlier this month by the US university has said that India's record is dismal on the environmental front.
The data gathered by a NASA satellite showed that Delhi, which has 8.1 million registered vehicles, had the highest particulate matter 2.5 pollution levels followed by Beijing.
