School bus driver held for attempting to rape minor

A bus driver of a private school was today arrested today for allegedly attempting to rape a four-year-old student on the school premises in Durg district of Chhattisgarh, police said.
"The incident happened at an English medium school in Smriti Nagar area under Supela police station yesterday," City Superintendent of Police (Bhilai Nagar) Virendra Sathpathy told PTI.
The accused driver Netra Tandi (35) has been arrested based on the complaint filed by the victim's relatives.
"As per complaint, the girl, a student of KG-2, was sexually abused by the accusedon Tuesdayin the store room of the school," the officer said.

After the girl reached home, she narrated her ordeal to the parents, following which the crime came to light, he added.
Subsequently, parents along with some locals reached the school today and expressed their outrage and protested.
After being alerted, a police team rushed to the school and arrested the accused after registering an offence against him, the SP said adding that further probe was on.
Meanwhile, district authorities also reached the spot and assured the parents of appropriate action in the matter.
