School principal held for raping minor student

Police today arrested the principal of a primary school in North Tripura district on the charge of raping a minor student of the school.
The 36-year-old principal of the private residential school in Kanchanpur allegedly raped the nine-year-old student several times at his official residence in the school complex since October last year, SP (Police Control), Uttam Kumar Bhowmik said.
The girl, after returning home for summer vacation, told her mother about what had happened to her and was not willing to rejoin the school.
According to the FIR lodged yesterday by the mother of the victim, the accused principal, a resident of Karnataka, also showed nude pictures and videos of the minor, Bhowmik said.
