School student drowned to death. 3 friends missing

A school student died and three others were feared drowned during a bath in Puri canal, near Barang Hanuman Batika, in outskirts of the state capital here, police said.
The four students of a government high school in Rail Vihar in the BDA Colony of Chandrasekharpur area of the city had gone for bath in the Barang-Puri main canal bunking classes when they were swept away by the strong current.
"The students did not attend classes today though they had left home on the pretext of going to school," headmistress Bijaylaxmi Mohanty said.
While the body of one student has been fished out, three others were still missing, J A Khan, a fire services personnel said.

The deceased student has been identified as Abhijit Samal.
