A Scottish national has come to India in pursuit of his ancestral roots here and has sought the help of South Central Railway in this regard.
Nicholas Graves, who is in his 30s, met SCR General Manager P K Srivastava here yesterday and informed him about his great-grandfather and grandparents who had lived in India.
He requested the GM to provide details of his ancestral home in the state and expressed the desire to visit the same.
Nicholas' great grandfather James Theadore, who was born in India on December 15, 1897, worked as a 'loco fitter' in 1932 with Nizam State Railways at Lallaguda in Secunderabad, according to a SCR release.
Theadore's daughter and Nicholas' grandmother Phyllis Margaret Champion was born in September 1920. She got married to Percy James Champion, who worked with the British Army in India, in August 1938 at Lucknow.
However, before the start of World War-II, Percy and Phyllis migrated to England in 1939, the release said.
Nicholas, who got curious to know about his ancestors' stay in India, decided to find out more about it.
He brought with him a 'pension book' of Theadore and showed it to the SCR's General Manager.
Srivastava appreciated the efforts of Nicholas Graves and assured his full cooperation in tracing his roots.
Nicholas attended a convention of Indian Railway Fan Club Association here yesterday, the release added.
