The amount was realised by way of fines levied on a total of 19,754 persons in the period in question, stated an SCR release.
The divisional break-up of the offenders penalised is: 5,644 persons in Secunderabad Division, 2,292 in Hyderabad, 5,229 in Vijayawada, 1,979 in Nanded, 3,090 in Guntakal and 1,520 in Guntur.
The Indian Railways (Penalties for Activities Affecting Cleanliness at Railway Premises) Rules, 2012, came into effect in November last year.
It authorises railway authorities to penalise those found littering or dumping garbage on railway premises with fines of up to Rs 500.
