The scrutiny committee for the Lok Sabha polls in Nagaland has not recommended repoll in any of the polling stations in the state, an official said today.
The Election Commission, however, would take the final decision in this matter, he said.
After scrutinising documents of 22 polling stations, the three-member committee, comprised of state commissioner & RO Temjen Toy and two general observers - Dr Manjit Singh and Ab Latif Deva has decided this.
"After a thorough scrutiny, the committee in its report to ECI did not recommend re-poll in any of the polling booths," Temjen Toy said.
The panel even did not recommend repolling in Ladaigarh Polling Station No 1, where polling could not be conducted as state police blocked the entry of polling officers in the village on April 8.
Toy clarified that the decision not to hold any re-poll in Ladaigarh was taken because ECI general observer Deva had not recommended it.
He said that even taking the polling station to Yanglok village was also impossible as the apex tribal body of the area Phom People's Council objected the move stating that the polling station should be set up within Ladaigarh.
Considering the gravity of the situation, which would create serious law and order problem in the bordering area, the committee did not recommend re-poll, Toy said.
