Scuffle between demonstrating guest lecturers and police

There was a scuffle between agitating guest lecturers and police personnel during a demonstration before the Higher Education Ministry at Bikash Bhavan in Salt Lake where the lecturers were demanding confirmation of their service and pay hike.
The police said the scuffle ensued as the slogan shouting demonstrators with placards and festoons, proceeded breaking the police cordon.
Police tried to prevent them, but the demonstrators paid no heed to their caution.
Some demonstrators and police personnel received minor injuries in the incident.
The situation was brought under control with the deployment of additional force, the police said adding two persons were arrested and were released later.
