SDM transferred in the wake of boy's death in celebratory fire

SDM Meerganj Raj Kumar Dwivedi takes over from Srivastava who has been posted elsewhere in the district, District Magistrate Manish Chauhan said.

Srivastava was present when the incident took place.

The boy Mehtab was killed in celebratory firing allegedly by Danish, one of the supporters of a newly-elected chairman Visharadganj Nagar Palika Riyaz Ahmad, opened fire in celebration after oath-taking ceremony.

The SSP, after visiting the spot, said six policemen, including station officer of Visharadganj Rukum Singh, have been placed under suspension.

Danish was arrested and the double barrel gun was seized.
