As a result of the better loading performance, SE Railway generated freight earnings of Rs 5,137.11 crore during April- September this fiscal, which is Rs 208.71 crore more than the corresponding period last fiscal, clocking a growth of 4.23 per cent, its spokesman said.
SER has surpassed the Railway Board's freight loading target for the first six months of 2016-17 by loading 2.19 per cent more than the target, the spokesman said.
In transporting other raw materials to steel plants, the Kolkata-based regional railway registered a growth of 56.70 per cent in the same period.
Other major components of SER's loading were coal, pig iron and finished steel, cement, food grains, fertilisers, etc, the spokesman said.
