The season's first case of H1N1 influenza or swine flu has been reported at Max Hospital in Patparganj in East Delhi.
The patient, a Ghaziabad resident, had recently come to the hospital with severe chest infection and when tested he was diagnosed positive of the infection following which he was referred to Pushpanjali Crosslay Hospital in Vaishali Ghaziabad.
Dr Mukesh Mehra, senior consultant, internal medicine at Max Hospital said that usually they don't advise H1N1 confirmatory tests for patients with flue like symptoms, unless symptoms do not go away in four to five days.
Senior consultant from Pulmonology department of Pushpanjali Crosslay Hospital, Dr Vipul Mishra said that the patient was admitted eight days ago and underwent treatment.
"Now, he is fine and will be discharged soon," said Mishra.
H1N1 influenza or swine flu had gained epidemic proportions in 2009.
Sore throat, fever, body ache and consistant respiratory problems are the symptoms of swine flu.
