With opposition parties staging dharna against alleged rampant rigging and violence in the civic polls in two municipal corporations in West Bengal today and demanding repoll, the State Election Commission has put the scheduled media briefing on hold.
The SEC office was scheduled to hold a media briefing at 6 pm but it has been delayed without any communication.
Officials in SEC said on condition of anonymity that there is no possibility of any official briefing as long as the dharna continues.
A BJP delegation headed by its state president Rahul Sinha staged a dharna outside the State Election Commissioner S R Upadhyay's office cabin after meeting him there.
Left and Congress demonstrated and sat on dharna on the road in front of the main entrance of the SEC's office.
Upadhyay had told PTI the the EC was looking into the complaints and would decide on the next course of action after it.
