"The executive body of Municipal Corporation Doctors Association today decided to call off the strike," President of the Association Dr R R Gautam said.
A delegation of the Association earlier met Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisdia and Health Minister Satyendar Jain who assured them that the "official process" has been started to meet their demand of taking over of municipal corporation health services by the government.
Delhi government has already given a "bailout package" of Rs 693 crore for payment of salaries and the ministers also assured that there will be no problem in future salary payment, he said, lauding Delhi government's action.
Dr Gautam also said that they want to join duties in public interest but requested that there be no "punitive action" and "salary cut" of doctors and employees of other health services by the municipal corporation authorities.
However, the leaders of Resident Doctors' Association stressed that their strike was on and that a final decision on it will be taken by a general body meeting tomorrow.
"We have not called off our strike yet. A general body meeting of the Association will be held at 10 am tomorrow for a final decision about the strike," President of the association Dr Aditya said.
