Security arrangements for the proposed July 25 rally here by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whose visit to Bihar in October 2013 was marred by a terror attack that claimed eight lives, were reviewed by top state government officials.
Closed door meetings on the security arrangements were held by Chief Secretary Anjani Kumar Singh, Director General of Police P K Thakur, Home Secretary Amir Subhani and Patna Central Range DIG, Shalin and Muzaffarpur Division Commissioner Atul Kumar, officials said.
Also present were District Magistrate Anupam Kumar, Muzaffarpur Zone IG Parasnath and other local officials.
Speaking after the meeting, Singh ruled out any threat to the PM's rally and said security arrangements have been made as per VIP protocol.
"There will be foolproof security arrangements in place at the venue of the Prime Minister's rally on July 25 next," Singh said, adding, that he was satisfied with the security measures being taken by the local administration.
Bihar government had put in place elaborate security measures for Modi's visits ahead of general elections last year ever since his rally at Gandhi Maidan on October 27, 2013, was rocked by the terror attack that had left eight persons dead and over 80 others were injured.
An estimated seven lakh people from the district and adjoining areas would attend Modi's rally on Saturday, Muzaffarpur Town BJP MLA Suresh Sharma claimed.
