Senior officials today reviewed the security at Srinagar International Airport, 10 days after an attack by militants on a BSF camp near the only civilian airport in Kashmir region.
According to a police spokesperson, a security review meeting was held at Srinagar International Airport, which was presided by Inspector General of Police (Security) Alok Kumar.
He said the meeting was attended by the airport director, SSP Security (Anti-hijacking) International Airport Srinagar, Commandants of 35 Battalion CRPF, 182 battalion BSF, officials of state police's intelligence wing, traffic department, Indian Air Force and airlines operating from there.
"The SSP Security gave a detailed presentation about the airport security. All stakeholders were impressed upon by the IGP (Security) to remain extra vigilant in their areas of responsibility and implement the guidelines so that fool-proof security arrangements are in place," the spokesperson said.
On October 3, security forces foiled a pre-dawn attempt by the Jaish-e-Mohammed to storm a BSF camp near the high- security Srinagar airport, killing all three militants in an operation that also claimed the life of an ASI of the force.
