Based on intelligence inputs about the presence of one cadre trying to terrorise and attempting forced extortion in Old Khamdo village, Assam Rifles conducted a successful operation in the village last night and apprehended the linkman Alan Rai, Defence PRO Colonel Chiranjit Konwer informed here today.
The battalion also seized blank letter heads of ULFA (I) and NSCN (K) from his possession.
On interrogation, the arrested cadre admitted allegiance to both the outfits while adding that he was actively assisting and acting as linkman for both the organizations for last four years during he had regular contact with self styled 'Sergeant' Rupam Asom of ULFA (I).
