Security has been beefed up in Kanpur district with police and administrative officials put on alert ahead of tomorrow's Ramnavami celebrations, an official said today.
Keeping in mind the clash during Ramnavami procession in Surendranagar area of Rawatpur in the city last year, CCTV cameras have been installed in the area for proper surveillance, Superintendent of Police (Rural) Surendra Tiwari said, adding police pickets have been set up at a number of places.
ADM (City) Avinash Singh said three people, Sonu Rathore, Rahamatullah and Akram, have been booked under Goondas Act on Wednesday for trying to disturb peace in Surendranagar area of Rawatpur in the city here.
Also, 24 people have been booked on a personal bond of Rs 10 lakh as a precautionary measure, he said.
They will be arrested and a fine of Rs 1.5 lakh will be slapped on them if they try to interrupt peace in the city during the Ramnavami procession, Singh added.
